WLPGA Presentation to the Taiwanese LP Gas Industry

David Tyler, WLPGA Director, visited Taiwan, China during February 2012 to meet the leaders of the LP Gas Industry and Government representatives in Taipei.

At the time of the event the WLPGA had no members in Taiwan, China, despite the fact that the LP Gas market is well established in the region. The meeting was arranged as an introductory Seminar where David introduced the WLPGA and its role in the industry, and how the WLPGA could assist development of the LP Gas industry and market in Taiwan, China. Over twenty people attended including representatives from the leading LP Gas companies and key Government officials from the Bureau of Standards and Regulatory departments. During the Seminar David presented a brief impression of the Taiwan LP Gas market having earlier visited cylinder filling plants and the downstream distribution channel in Taipei. He outlined the vision of the WLPGA and described the WLPGA’s specific four Mission goals before presenting the global LP Gas branding programme - ‘Exceptional Energy’ - outlining how it could be used in Taiwan to consolidate the LP Gas business, position the industry under one unified brand and consequently help move the industry forward. The two hour Seminar concluded with a lively Q & A which generated a great deal of interest, especially in areas of safety and compliance, and how the Taiwan LP Gas market could be developed through initiatives such as Autogas and convenient small cylinder exchange programmes. All participants expressed a keen interest in the WLPGA activities and one company, Sunrise LP Gas & Energy (Taiwan) Group (http://www.mygas.com.tw), decided to join and become the inaugural WLPGA member in Taiwan.  Mr Henry H Tsai, Deputy General Manager, becomes the first Taiwan, China WLPGA member representative. Several delegates agreed to examine the formation of a LP Gas Industry Association that could join the WLPGA and benefit from the very specific advantages that WLPGA membership as an Association brings. At the end of the Seminar all delegates enjoyed a supper kindly hosted by the TPA Group, manufacturers of LP Gas equipment (www.tpagas.com). TPA also sponsored the Seminar.
