WLPGA/PIEA East African LP Gas Training Workshop in Nairobi 21st – 23rd March

The WLPGA, in partnership with the Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA), held a three day LP Gas training workshop in Nairobi 21st – 23rd March 2012 at the Intercontinental Hotel.

Sixty four delegates from four countries attended the programme. The three day training workshop was designed for staff from LP Gas Operational and Marketing departments, relevant Government Ministries, and Legal & Regulatory Agencies from East African Countries. The objectives of the Training Workshop were to firstly review the basic properties and characteristics of LP Gas and how they impact on the safe storage, handling and distribution of the product. Secondly to understand the key issues that underpins the effective and safe management of the LP Gas business including design, operations, distribution and management.
The training focused on three key areas of the business:          (i)       LP Gas product knowledge          (ii)      LP Gas bulk storage facilities & bulk transfer          (iii)     LP Gas safety and cylinder filling, storage and distribution
David Tyler, WLPGA Director, facilitated the training, supported by Robert Shisoka and Joe Kiarie from the PIEA. The material included examples of good practice from around the world and case studies that focused on some of the challenges that are faced in East Africa. A follow up programme is being discussed for 2013. If anyone is interested in having a LP Gas training programme conducted in their country please contact David Tyler (dtyler@worldlpgas.com).
