WLPGA Member Focus – Vision In Energy

WLPGA welcomed Vision in Energy as a new member in March 2017.

Dynamically inspiring growth within the energy sector, Vision in Energy aims to provide a platform for sustainable industry development throughout the value chain.

Vision in Energy offers dedicated energy events, created and managed by energy experts. Says Managing Director, Tamsin Rankin, “We have an acute understanding of the trade, and therefore aim to address real industry concerns. We want to celebrate the successes of our industry peers, encourage innovation and discuss how we might collaborate as an industry to overcome key issues that we face.”

The 2017 Vision in Energy LPG Event, South Africa, in collaboration with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa is one of the continent’s premier gatherings of LPG industry players.

The 2017 VIE LPG Event will take place from the 9th to 11th of May 2017, at Montecasino (Gauteng, South Africa). Comprising of a premium conference, world-class exhibition, agenda-setting workshops, industry awards, gala dinner and WINLPG chapter meeting - the 2017 VIE LPG Event will play a crucial role in shaping the landscape of market development for sub-Saharan Africa.

There has been a significant increase in interest within the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry in sub-Saharan Africa over the last few years. Vision in Energy believes it is their responsibility to work alongside industry associations such as the WLPGA and LPGSASA, to assist in the promotion of the potential opportunities that a growing LPG industry can offer South Africa and the Southern Africa region - both in terms of job creation and alleviating energy poverty.

The current South African market represents over 300 000 Mt of LPG, worth ZAR1.5 billion annually1. The recently updated South African Integrated Energy Plan (IEP) forecasts extensive growth, with LPG imports increasing in excess of 20 billion liters per annum by 20502. It is estimated that for every 10 Mt LPG distributed per month, one job is created 3. For a market that currently only enjoys a 10% market penetration, the opportunities within the growing Southern African LPG sector should not be underestimated.

With a national per capita consumption of LPG still five times lower than the global average, the scope for growth in the Southern African market is immense. This growing demand for LPG highlights the need for attention on critical issues such as safety, business opportunities and sustainable supply. The 2017 VIE Event, in collaboration with the LPGSASA, will address these and other topical issues, expertly bringing together LPG stakeholders in order to produce meaningful outputs that will shape the destiny of the industry in the region.
