LP Gas – Discovery of the New Era
ORLEN GAZ and the Warsaw University of Technology are proud to announce the second edition of the Polish LP Gas industry competition Napęd Nowej Ery, which translates to Fuel of the New Era. This year's competition will award and recognise young Polish scientists.
The ORLEN GAZ LP GAS Awards are a non-profit initiative supported by LP Gas market experts and media. The main goal of the competition is to popularise the best LP Gas industry practices and to break the stereotype of LP Gas, as a cheap and poor quality fuel.
This year the project will also aim to promote scientific research on LP Gas. The first edition in 2012 attracted almost 90 contestants, all offering their unique solutions for the LP Gas industry in four categories: Car of the New Era, Innovation of the New Era, LP Gas installation of the New Era and LP Gas station of the New Era. This year entries are invited from MS and PhD students, graduates, members of student organisations and scientific clubs, university employees and members of scientific institutes as well as design teams and inventors to register their LP Gas-related projects in a new category - Discovery of the New Era.
The winners of the three categories: Master’s Thesis, PhD Thesis and Scientific Project/Invention will be announced in November, during the final gala.
- The success of the first edition of our LP Gas Awards and the obvious need to support innovations led to our decision to broaden the scope of the competition and to include the representatives of academic and scientific societies. We would like to support young bright minds and scientists, who are making important contributions to the field of liquefied petroleum gas, which is the core of our interest. We believe that such projects can contribute to the development of the Polish LP Gas industry – says Marcin Zawisza, the CEO of ORLEN GAZ.
In 2012 during the first ORLEN GAZ LP GAS Awards, all contestants in the Innovation of the New Era category registered the results of their scientific research on LP Gas, including LP Gas chemical composition. For this second edition the awards and grants will be given to the best research studies that will have an actual influence on complementing the expert knowledge on LP Gas. The Rules of the competition allow that the grants are used to finance laboratory research, participation in a science conferences or production of a prototype of the winning invention. The Organisers will also give additional awards – internships.
- If Poland is to stay an European Autogas market leader the LP Gas industry must invest in research and innovations. Not only the technical ones but also in new initiatives, that aim to popularise LP Gas. The ORLEN GAZ LP GAS Awards are an inspiration for scientists to search for new technical solutions and to educate the next generation of experts. – says the Warsaw University Professor Maciej Paczuski, PhD. The contestants can register their applications, free of charge, on the competition’s official website www.napednowejery.pl, until 11th October. The winners will be announced in November during the final gala. The partners of this year’s edition of ORLEN GAZ LP GAS Awards – Napęd Nowej Ery are the Warsaw University of Technology, WLPGA, POGP (Polish LPG Association) and INIG (the Polish Oil and Gas Institute).
