Autogas Limited Extends Commitment to LPG Conversion Network in the UK

Autogas Limited, a joint venture between Shell and Calor, has made a further commitment to its vehicle conversion network, with the appointment of Auke Faber in the newly created role of conversion scheme advisor.

Auke brings with him extensive experience of the autogas market having worked as a product development engineer for LPG fuel injection system supplier Vialle in Holland for nine years.

Speaking on his appointment, Auke said: “With the current concerns about air quality and vehicle emissions, this is an incredibly exciting time to be joining Autogas. This is perhaps an unprecedented opportunity to help grow the LPG vehicle parc in the UK and I’m looking forward to working closely with our converters to encourage more fleets and individuals to make the switch to the cheaper, cleaner fuel.”

In his previous role, Auke was responsible for designing, testing and prototyping LPG systems and components.

Autogas’ vehicle conversion network was established earlier in 2015 as part of a £1 million investment programme which has included a rebranding of its UK refuelling infrastructure. The network currently includes a number of pilot conversion centres, strategically located around the UK who are working closely with businesses and private individuals keen to reduce both their vehicle emissions and fuel costs. In the new role, Auke will be responsible for providing technical support to the vehicle converters, recruiting new workshops to give even greater nationwide coverage as well as supporting the local marketing efforts of its network members.Currently, around 150,000 vehicles in the UK are fuelled by autogas LPG which can be found at more than 1,400 forecourt locations. However, as LPG powered vehicles are much less harmful to the environment, emitting fewer NOx, particulates and CO2 emissions than both petrol and diesel models, Autogas believes there will be renewed interest in the fuel as concerns about local air quality and emissions grows.
