The Vienna Energy Forum 2013

WLPGA Deputy Managing Director Michael Kelly represented the Association during the Vienna Energy Forum 2013 and was a panelist in a session that discussed different strategies for increasing energy access in developing nations.

The panel included the first female President of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson and discussed issues ranging from the best way to encourage development of energy markets to how the public and private sectors can cooperate to ensure that the energy access goals laid out in the Sustainable Energy For All (SEFA) initiative are achieved.

The Vienna Energy Forum brought together over 1,600 policy makers, country delegations, experts and representatives from the private sector and civil society from 116 countries, to deliberate on sustainable energy and the way forward after the Rio +20 meetings on Sustainable Energy last year. Michael also met with Dr Kandeh Yumkella who is leading SEFA about potential cooperation between SEFA and Cooking For Life as well as about Dr Yumkella’s keynote address in the upcoming World LP Gas Forum in London later this year.
