The LP Gas Safety Association of South Africa Has a New Home … and Enhanced Training Facilities

WLPGA member LPGSASA recently moved into its new premises and is now located at 4 Kya Sands Road in Kya Sand, Johannesburg.

Located a comfortable distance from Lanseria Airport, the property is accessible for visitors travelling by air from other provinces as well as from Johannesburg and Pretoria. One of the main reasons for choosing this site was the versatility if offers for training.

This has meant that the LPGSASA can now offer a far more practical, ‘hands-on’ experience when attending the various training courses which the Association offers. The impressive Training Centre is virtually complete with a number of domestic appliances already installed with commercial type appliances (e.g. fryers, etc.) to follow.

To date, all the appliances, pipework, equipment, labour, cylinders, LPG, etc. have been donated or sponsored by association members or industry players. The support has been fantastic and is indicative of how important the industry perceives this facility to be. LPGSASA will formally acknowledge all these sponsors shortly.

Training courses are being held in the facility (as of 1st July 2015) and already the schedule for July is full. As from July 2015 the courses run over five days (instead of the previous four days) which will result in a reduction in the number of installations required to be undertaken under mentorship.

The newly introduced Refresher Courses also started in July and so the new facility has been utilised from day one. Full details of the scheduled courses are available on the LPGSASA website at http://www.lpgas.co.za/Training/Training.html

Feedback from members who have attended one of the courses or visited the facility so far has been very positive as has been the case with various stakeholders who have had a preview on what will be on offer, including the Department of Labour, the SABS, our Technical Committees and others.

The new premises and trianing facility will be formally and officially launched on a date yet to be finalised - but this will be after the industry’s ‘busy winter period’. WLPGA wishes LPGSASA all the best in these exciting new premises. For more information about the LPGSASA visit www.lpgas.co.za
