Co-hosted by the Propane Education & Research Council, the National Propane Gas Association, Ferrellgas, and UGI/AmeriGas, the event brought together influential industry leaders for a for a unique one-day event addressing global market conditions of this exceptional energy. Keynote speakers were Bruce B Henning, Vice President, Energy Regulatory & Market Analysis ICF International and Stephan Raes, Minister (Economic), Royal Netherlands Embassy, Washington DC. One of the summit highlights was the presentation of the WLPGA Distinguished Service Award to the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC). The award was presented to Roy Willis, Chairman, PERC, by James Rockall, Managing Director and CEO, WLPGA. This prestigious award is given at the discretion of the WLPGA Board to individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution to the global LPG industry. Since the WLPGA was founded 24 years ago, the award has been presented to seven individuals. With the WLPGA Board unanimously agreeing to bestow the award to PERC, this was the first time it has been presented to an organisation. PERC manages one of the largest sustained programs of research and development of propane-fueled equipment in the world and the award was bestowed in recognition of this outstanding body of work. “The award from WLPGA is a testament to the propane industry’s entrepreneurial spirit and its steadfast support for what we do at PERC,” said Willis. “More than a dozen years ago, visionary leaders saw an opportunity to invest collectively in propane innovation. PERC was the result. Today, PERC collaborates with government agencies, equipment manufacturers, university researchers, and safety and training experts to find innovative ways to use propane and train the people who handle it and use it.” The WLPGA will next bring together the global LP Gas community at the 24th World LP Gas Forum in Doha, Qatar, 26-29 September 2011.
