August 2010 – Global Rollout of Exceptional Energy

Why is LPG an exceptional energy? LPG is an exceptional energy source due to its origin, benefits, applications and its industry.

Exceptional Times Require Exceptional Energy The World LP Gas Association get ready for the global roll-out of the LPG Exceptional Energy brand Why is LPG an exceptional energy? LPG is an exceptional energy source due to its origin, benefits, applications and its industry. As a clean, lower carbon, efficient and innovative energy it offers benefits to consumers, industry and the environment. With immediate and global availability, environmental benefits, its natural by-product origin, transportation flexibility and diverse application, LPG plays a pivotal role in the transition towards a more secure, sustainable and competitive energy model. LPG is a clean-burning, sustainable and efficient fuel and a vital source of energy for hundreds of millions of people throughout the world today. It is a multi-purpose energy with literally thousands of applications. It is portable, can be transported, stored and used virtually anywhere in the world and there are sufficient reserves to last for many decades. LPG also shows lower greenhouse gas emissions than petrol, diesel, and electricity, on an energy-equivalent basis. This is exactly why the World LP Gas Association (WLPGA) has created the global LPG Exceptional Energy brand.  Its purpose is to raise awareness of the exceptional features of LPG among policymakers, industry and consumers.  An increased understanding of LPG’s environmental benefits, versatile applications and its immediate global availability is of the essence of the brand to enable conscious and responsible decisions to be made on the type of energy sources used.  It also aims to promote the use of common and consistent messages within the industry globally.  LPG Exceptional Energy is showcasing the industry in many ways, which include a newly created broad benefits website: www.exceptionalenergy.com. The website showcases the exceptional features of LPG, a series of cases studies from around the globe, interactive maps / graphs featuring its clear benefits, facts sheets, Q&A, a resource centre full of reports and studies, facts and figures, as well as a Media Room for journalists to obtain the latest information about LPG Exceptional Energy. The next phase of the website is to translate it into different languages. Also, contained within the website is an Industry Toolkit, whereby members of the WLPGA can utilise LPG Exceptional Energy branded communication materials and ready-made artwork, such as the above featured Exceptional Times Require Exceptional Energy advertising campaign, to promote the use of common and consistent messages industry-wide. The LPG Exceptional Energy brand will be rolled-out globally, with the launch taking place at the 21st World Energy Congress (WEC) in Montreal, Canada from 12 – 16 September 2010.   This roll-out will continue to gain momentum by also featuring at the 23rd World LP Gas Forum taking place in Madrid, Spain from 28 September to 1 October. The Exceptional Times Require Exceptional Energy advertising campaign will form a key component of the promotion of LPG Exceptional Energy during both these events and throughout the global roll-out. "The advertising campaign aims to inject a refreshing, human approach to the LPG industry that everyone can relate to”, commented James Rockall, Managing Director of the World LP Gas Association. “The brand is supplier neutral, which means the entire industry can use it.  We are encouraging all of our regional and national associations to use it so we are speaking with one voice and help spread the word that LPG is an Exceptional Energy”, he added. Note to editors: The World LP Gas Association (WLPGA) is the authoritative voice of the global LP Gas industry representing all sectors of the industry.  The primary aim of the Association is to add value to the sector through driving premium demand for LP Gas, while also promoting compliance with good business and safety practices.  It brings together both private and public companies involved in the industry, develops long-term partnerships with international organisations and implements projects on both a global and local scale.  The Association was established in 1987 and granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 1989.
