International Energy Agency Promotes LPG in New Report

The International Energy Agency (IEA) just published a World Energy Outlook special report that highlights the link between energy, air pollution and health. Entitled “Energy and Air Pollution” the report acknowledges that energy production, and its use, is a major source of air pollution and that without further action deaths from air pollution will increase significantly in the decades to come.

The IEA presents a scenario in which energy policy choices backed by an increase in total energy investment through 2040 will produce a sharp improvement in health around the world. LPG is widely mentioned in the document which specifically states that switching from solid biomass to LPG for cooking in developing countries should be a recommended policy option. WLPGA contributed to the drafting and editing of this document which can be downloaded here.
