James Rockall

Mr. James Rockall is the CEO and Managing Director of the WLPGA. He is responsible for leading the organisation, ensuring that the Association delivers on its Mission Statement and delivers value to all WLPGA members. James has a strong energy and business development background having worked for nine years for Shell International in project management and business development in The Netherlands and Venezuela. Prior to joining the WLPGA in July 2003 as Director of Market Development, James worked for two years for the global energy group ALSTOM SA as an e-Business Director. He is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with a Masters degree from the University of Nottingham in the UK and an MBA from the Institute of Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Mr. Michael Kelly is Chief Advocacy Officer and Deputy Managing Director at the WLPGA. He brings a multi-cultural touch to his role because of his experience working throughout the world. Michael spent five years working for the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) where he was responsible for the energy and environment policy portfolio and led business delegations in UN level negotiations on topics in this area. Before the ICC, Michael Kelly has lived and worked in the UK, Sweden, China, Japan, Italy and the US and is fluent in four languages. Living in so many different countries provides him with an understanding of different cultures and ways of working. Michael’s role is to promote the benefits of LPG both in the developing world and in more mature markets. He acts as the interface between the industry, governments, development agencies, intra governmental bodies, such as the UN and the World Bank and the NGO community. Michael holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the George Washington University in Washington DC.

Nikos Xydas

Mr. Nikos Xydas joined WLPGA as Technical Director in September 2011. He holds a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glasgow/Scotland. His main professional background is from Shell, in Technical, Operations and HSE positions, the largest majority in international roles with Shell Gas (LPG) and Shell Global Lubricants. Earlier he was with ABB in Switzerland and also in Greece. He has a double French/Greek nationality and his permanent residence is in Paris. He speaks English, French, German and Greek. The width of his international roles in Shell in charge of large numbers /zones of countries provided him with a good mix of competences and experiences and not only in the Technical, Operations or HSE which are his main expertise areas. Outside these, he spent some years in developing and managing the network of the Shell Select outlets in Greece (mostly food retailing) and in roles as Communications mgr. Most recently, in Shell Lubricants he held the roles of Global Strategy/Planning mgr, Global Communications mgr, Global Assurance/Audit mgr and Global Performance mgr. in HSSE.

Ms Alison Abbott joined the WLPGA in October 2010. She is responsible for both the communications initiatives of the WLPGA to its members and stakeholders and also for the global rollout of the Exceptional Energy brand. Having previously held similar positions within telecommunications and software companies both in France and the UK, Alison joined the WLPGA with a wealth of experience in global communications and international brand marketing. Alison also manages the Women In LPG Global Network (WINLPG).

Esther Assous

Ms. Esther Assous joined the WLPGA team in October 2007. She is responsible for the management of the annual World Forum events and the European Association Congress. She is a multi-lingual Dutch citizen speaking both English and French fluently. Ms. Esther Assous joins WLPGA with 12 years experience in marketing and communications. She has a varied background having worked as office manager for the French Chiropractic Association, for Price Waterhouse Coopers in Luxemburg and as Communications and Marketing Assistant for Schlumberger in Paris. She has a Masters Degree in European Studies from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor in marketing.
Camille joined the WLPGA in April 2011. She has taken over the role of Digital Communications Manager and is responsible for WLPGA digital communications activities. Camille was previously working half time on the World LPG Forum organisation and the other half on all Communications projects. Camille has a Master’s degree in Negotiation and International Business and specialised in Marketing and Communication. She cooperated with several professional Events and Public relations missions in various companies. She speaks French, English and Spanish.

Myriam (Mimi) Brasseur is American/Tunisian with a Bachelor’s in Communication and Social media from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Masters in Cultural & Social Anthropology from the University of Leuven in Belgium. During her time at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, she worked as a communications research assistant alongside working at the Office of Multicultural Affairs. In 2010, Mimi co-started AMBRICS (American British Irish Club of Sousse), an English speaking club based in Tunisia to assist the American and British embassies during the Tunisian revolution. Mimi speaks English, French, and some knowledge in Arabic.
Audrey just integrated the team as acting Member Relations Manager. After eight years in an international company as event coordinator in Paris, she spent two years in Copenhagen, Denmark as an expat. She has a varied background having worked as Logistic Manager, General Manager Assistant and Marketing Coordinator. Audrey speaks French, English and have some knowledge in Danish.

Filipa Rio
Sustainable Mobility Director
Filipa worked as a Senior Director for Strategic Communications with FTI Consulting in Brussels where she led the transportation practice. She provided guidance and advocacy strategies on low-emission mobility issues, connected and automated vehicles, and clean energy policies for cross-sector clients such as tech companies, miners, automakers, and logistics companies.

Before FTI, Filipa worked for Harley-Davidson as Manager of Government Affairs for the Latin America Region.  She was the principal liaison between H-D and LATAM governments (26 markets) where she developed and executed legislative strategies to optimize business operations. 

Filipa began her career in the automotive industry, working as Director of Environmental Affairs for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers in Washington, D.C., representing twelve member companies. Key policy areas included fuel economy, green chemistry, electrification, and product stewardship.

A dual U.S. and Portuguese citizen, Filipa holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy from Virginia Tech.
